In the last few weeks I’ve been having a dig around the dustier corners of my Brazilian music collection, and the result is this mixtape. Dirty Old Bossa Nova is a 56 minute journey through bossa nova (obviously), Brazilian funk, jazz, samba and psychedelia. There’s some new music on there, some old, some rare stuff and some that’s common as muck. The only common thread is that I think all the tracks are great.
Brazilian Guitar, Fuzz Bananas is a new compilation of 16 tropicália-era psychedelic funk tracks compiled by so-called ‘vinyl archaeologist’ Joel Stones. Featuring tracks from Fabio, 14 Bis, and fourteen other artists that I’ve never heard of, this promises to be something completely different.
As always with Now Again, the LP comes beautifully packaged, with a 24 page colour booklet and the all-important 3D glasses for the full psychedelic experience. Have a listen to Fabio’s Lindo Sonho Delirante, and if you like what you hear, you can buy it here (UK) or here (US).
